The Cargo Officer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the movement of cargo, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing logistics operations. This role involves managing freight handling, tracking shipments, and ensuring safe and timely transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Cargo Operations: Coordinate the receipt, storage, and dispatch of cargo efficiently.
- Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all cargo-related documentation complies with regulatory and company requirements.
- Shipment Tracking: Monitor and track shipments, ensuring timely deliveries.
- Safety & Security: Implement safety protocols and ensure cargo is handled in compliance with industry regulations.
- Coordination: Liaise with airlines, shipping companies, freight forwarders, and internal teams.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of shipments and cargo inventory.
- Issue Resolution: Address discrepancies, damages, or delays in shipments.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze cargo reports to improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in cargo operations, logistics, or freight handling.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in logistics management software.
- Knowledge of cargo handling procedures and regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in air, sea, or land cargo operations.
- Certification in logistics or freight handling.
- Familiarity with customs regulations and documentation.
